Madison police say they were quickly able to detain a person whom they believe may have robbed a branch of the Home Savings Bank Friday afternoon.
A police report says officers responded to an alarm just before 3:00 p.m. at the bank at 3700 East Washington Avenue. Witnesses told them a man carrying a purse had robbed the bank and fled on foot.
A Parking Enforcement Officer in the area spotted a man matching the suspect's description running from the area of the bank. Police caught up with him and brought him in for questioning.
Lt. Mindy Winter says the man, who is described as white, with a thin build in his 20s, is considered a person of interest in the robbery.
As of Friday evening, she says he's not been arrested.
The investigation continues.
