MADISON (WKOW) -- Three people, including two children, were rescued from Lake Monona Sunday after their kayak tipped over.
The Madison Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 3:45 p.m. They could see a man struggling to stay above water. The fire department says the water was about 65 degrees at the time, which was also affecting his strength. Since he couldn't buckle his life vest, the man hung onto two other kayaks near him, each occupied by his sons.
One safety diver rescued the man while another went into the water to secure the two other kayaks and the man's children.
The man was evaluated by paramedics. He had reportedly been in the water for 45 minutes.
