Campaign over for Assembly candidate under fire for disputed signatures

(WKOW) -- The Democratic candidate for the 37th Assembly seat, Charisse Daniels, missed a deadline to respond to complaints accusing her of election fraud, effectively putting an end to her campaign.

It was a short-lived campaign after several Watertown residents complained they never signed her nomination papers.

The Watertown Police Department was involved, too, examining dozens of suspected forged signatures.

The Election Commission is expected to formally take her name of the ballot at its Monday meeting.

On Friday, Daniels' attorney had not comment.
