The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash on State Highway 19 in which two people died.
Officers were called to the scene of the head-on collision near North Street in the Township of Portland, east of Waterloo around 4:00 p.m. Friday.
Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a news release Friday night the crash involved an eastbound passenger car and a westbound pickup truck where the driver was the only person in each car. Both drivers, whose names aren't being released yet, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff said the highway was closed for about three hours afterward. The factors involved in the crash are still under investigation.
