Businesses and residents directly affected by the explosion July 10 can now apply for assistance from the Sun Prairie Disaster Relief Committee.
United Way of Dane County is assisting the committee in developing the online application and evaluating the requests.
All people and businesses located in the affected area needing assistance are asked to submit an application.
The application form is available on the United Way website: UnitedWayDaneCounty.org/SunPrairieStrongApplications should be submitted by Friday, August 17. There likely will be another opportunity to request assistance, but it is important to identify all the needs so the funds are available later, according to a news release.
The applications will be reviewed the week following the August 17 deadline and distributions are expected to begin by late August.
Since the disaster, The Bank of Sun Prairie has been working with Sunshine Place, a community organization based in Sun Prairie, to extend aid to several individuals and families that were displaced by the disaster and that assistance continues. Anyone who has been displaced and needs assistance is urged to contact Sunshine Place at 608-825-3875.\
