Man arrested for OWI after slamming into Dollar General

DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- A Dollar General store in Darlington remains closed after police say a drunk driver struck the building, causing significant damage. 

The crash happened on Friday around 8:30 p.m. Darlington Police said the driver of a minivan lost control of his car, hit a Redbox movie rental machine before slamming into the Dollar General. 

Officers arrested the driver, Robin Fries, 62, of Darlington. He remains in jail and faces charges of OWI, failure to maintain control and reckless driving. Fries will also face charges of disorderly conduct, attempting to batter a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. 

The Dollar General was closed on Friday night and Saturday due to the damage. No word on when it will reopen. 

Nobody was hurt in the crash.
