Evers wins Democratic primary, will face Walker

Democratic primary voters have picked Tony Evers to challenge Governor Scott Walker. Evers coasted to victory Tuesday night, with the Associated Press calling him the winner shortly after 9:00.

Evers had a nearly 2-1 lead over his nearest competitor based on early results. Madison Mayor Paul Soglin finished 7th out of the 8 candidates.

Evers and the other Democratic candidates were largely united on the issues: opposing a potential $10 billion Foxconn Technology Group development Walker secured with President Donald Trump's administration, supporting the legalization of marijuana, and scaling back Walker's signature Act 10 law that effectively ended collective bargaining for public workers.
