NWS confirms 15 tornadoes throughout Wisconsin

The National Weather Service says it has now confirmed 15 tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin during Tuesday's storms.

During surveys earlier in the day, NWS Milwaukee meteorologists confirmed seven tornadoes. After later surveys, officials confirmed seven more. In addition to the tornadoes in the NWS Milwaukee area, the NWS in Green Bay confirmed one tornado in its area, bringing the total to 15 in Wisconsin.

UPDATE (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service in Milwaukee says eight tornadoes were surveyed in Wisconsin Wednesday after storms slammed the state earlier in the week. 

NWS provided this information:

  • One EF2 and one EF1 in far NE Dodge County in Brownsville. This is near Lomira. Peak winds with the EF2 were 125mph
  • Four EF1 tornado near Oxford in Marquette County
  • Four EF1 tornadoes and one EF 0 in far Southern Fond du Lac County. This is just outside our coverage area

The agency will survey potential tornado damage in Marquette and Green Lake Counties Thursday. 

The number of tornadoes is likely to go up.
