Troop Leader Ousted After Fundraiser

A local Girl Scout troop leader, who organized a vigil and fundraiser to remember victims of a fatal crash, is now out of a job.

Elizabeth Steffel has been the leader of a scout troop in Green Bay for three years.  She helped organize a vigil to honor three Chippewa Falls area scouts and a parent who were killed while collecting trash along the highway.

The Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes isn't commenting, but Steffel believes she was ousted because her troop raised money directly for the families of the crash victims and it was not being filtered through the Scout council.
