UPDATE: Cambridge restaurant likely total loss after fire

UPDATE (WKOW) — Highway 18 is open in both directions near Cambridge after crews battled a fire that caused major damage to a restaurant.

Firefighters responded to Giovanni’s restaurant in the 9000 block of Highway 18.

There was fire in the kitchen of the building, according to Cambridge fire. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

Crews were on the scene for more than eight hours.

Fire officials expect the restaurant to be a total loss.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
