Teens stabbed while attempting to rob schoolmate, police say

An attempted robbery with a BB gun ended with the two teen suspects stabbed by their would-be victim.

Two 15-year-old Madison teens were arrested and face charges of armed robbery and being party to a crime.

The victim told police he heard knocking at the front door of his residence about 11 p.m. Wednesday. Suspicious, he put a folding knife in his pocket as he prepared to answer the door, according to a Town of Madison Police Department news release.

Two 15-year-olds he knew from school were at the door. One of them he knew well because they had a history of physical altercations. He also knew the second suspect. The two suspects asked for a glass of water and the victim invited them into his home.

After drinking a glass of water, the suspects were leaving the residence when one of them pulled a handgun from his waist, pointed it at the victim and demanded his property, according to police.

The victim fought for control of the handgun during a scuffle.

During the struggle, the victim pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed one of the suspects in the leg, and the other in the buttocks.

The suspects fled from the residence leaving the handgun behind. The handgun was a BB gun designed to imitate the appearance of a real firearm, according to police.

One suspect was eventually located at his home and transported to a hospital for treatment by EMS and then moved to the Juvenile Reception Center. The second suspect was located by the Madison Police Department and transported to a hospital to tend to his injuries then transferred to JRC.

The Madison Metropolitan School District has been notified of the incident in an attempt to ensure the safety of the victim, acording to the news release.
