Madison City Council approves new deal for Judge Doyle Square

MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison City Council signed off on an agreement for Judge Doyle Square that will keep the development project on track.

It calls for the city to pay $700 thousand to the developer, Beitler Real Estate, in exchange for the rights to the Madison Municipal Building.

Council members voted 15-0 in favor of the proposal, which requires Beitler to accelerate construction of a hotel to serve Monona Terrace.

Mayor Paul Soglin says the move will save the city $700,000 dollars.

The plan for the old parking garage site is to put up a hotel, apartments and commercial space.
