Lafayette County house fire leaves one dead

TOWN OF FAYETTE (WKOW) — Authorities are investigating after a deadly house fire on South Lake Rd. Wednesday morning.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said a fire broke out at a residence on the 17000 block at around 11:45 a.m.

Personnel from the Argyle Fire Department, Blanchardville, and Darlington Fire departments worked to put out the flames.

After the fire was extinguished — officials found a body inside the residence.

Right now, the name of the person who died isn’t being released, pending notification of family members.

The Sheriff’s Office says the residence is a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Argyle Fire Department, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations, the Wisconsin Fire Marshals, and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
