Dane County court records show investigators suspect a Cottage Grove man whose body was found in a corn field in Marshal l last month was a murder victim.
Records show searches of the field and the car of victim Kurt Meyer were granted by a judge on the suspicion of a first-degree intentional homicide took place.
Search warrant affidavits show approximately $100 was found on and near Meyer’s body. But they also state Meyer’s pants were covered in dirt, unzipped, and one of his shoes had been removed.
Records show the 47-year-old Meyer was last seen by a roommate Jan. 10 leaving his apartment with an unidentified person. Records state Meyer’s girlfriend contacted police that day and reported Meyer as a missing person.
