Madison sets a new record low temperature

MADISON (WKOW) – Madison woke up to record cold this morning, dropping to -10° by 6 am. This broke the 135-year old daily record of -9° set back in 1884!

Expect a sun-cloud mix with wind chills staying sub-zero all day. Actual highs will only manage the upper single digits, about 30 degrees below average for early March.

Temps will dip to around 0° with wind chills around -10° to -15°. A few flurries are also possible as a weak area of low pressure drifts through the Great Lakes region.

Highs will climb to the teens, but wind chills will stay at or below zero with a healthy breeze continuing out of the WNW.

Expect temps to creep into the low 20s in the afternoon after starting off around zero again in the morning.
