The Waunakee man accused of shooting and killing his neighbor Aug. 17 has been committed to a mental institution during a court hearing today.
Ronald D. Jenne, 74, of Waunakee, was charged in the murder ofJulie Anderson, 54, who he lived across the hall from at the Creekside Condominiums on Kearney Way. Anderson died of chest and stomach wounds at the hospital about three hours after she was shot.
In sending Jenne to an institution, the judge said she accepts information from experts that Jenne lacked the ability to appreciate the wrongfulness of his homicide.
Jenne pleaded no contest and also not guilty due to mental disease.
