Body recovered from Baraboo fire

UPDATE (WKOW) — Firefighters have recovered a body from the scene of a house fire in the town of Baraboo.

The Baraboo Fire Department confirmed in a press release that they had discovered a body in the ruins of the Terrytown Road home.

The body was discovered Friday after crews had been searching for one “unaccounted for” female person.

UPDATE (WKOW) — Authorities have released more information about the person missing in Friday morning’s Baraboo house fire.

Firefighters told 27 News the missing person is female and still unaccounted for.

It’s too early in the investigation to determine how the fire started.

Baraboo Police Chief Mark Schauf said the fire represents a good opportunity for people to start checking smoke detectors.

UPDATE (WKOW) — The Baraboo home involved in Friday morning’s fire is a complete loss, and authorities are still unsure of the whereabouts of one resident.

Firefighters are searching the debris of the ruined house for any sign of the missing person.
