COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) — A man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Wisconsin Dells has hung himself in his prison cell, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Fuad Pashayev, 31, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, was pronounced dead after being found about 11 p.m. Sunday hanging in his cell, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Jail staff were able to cut him down and perform life-saving measures while also calling an ambulance from Divine Savior Hospital, however, those life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
Pashayev was being held in the jail awaiting his court appearances regarding the suspected homicide of his wife in Wisconsin Dells last month.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office to complete an investigation.
Although there was no foul play suspected, the investigation is still ongoing at this time.
Pashayev was being housed in a cell by himself and the incident occurred after all of the inmates in the cell block were locked down for the night.
A criminal complaint said that Pashayev stabbed his wife, then stayed with her body for days before anyone knew she was dead.
