MADISON (WKOW) — Taco Bell Cantina on State Street will serve its first alcoholic drink on Friday.
A news release from Taco Bell said the location will officially begin serving alcohol on June 7 at 1 p.m.
Beginning on June 7, 2019, Taco Bell Cantina will begin responsibly serving alcohol to the residents and visitors of Madison on Mondays – Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM. Additionally, every weekday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Taco Bell Cantina will celebrate happy hour with $1 off drinks.
An ongoing battle surrounded the Madison Taco Bell Cantina.
The City Council approved the license in 2017, but then-mayor Paul Soglin vetoed it. Now, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway says she doesn’t want to continue targeting individual businessesto get a handle on alcohol licensing downtown.
In celebration of the alcohol addiction and as a thank you, the restaurant chain said all guests who purchase either beer, wine or a Twisted Freeze through 11 p.m. Friday will receive a free crunchy or soft taco.
