MONROE (WKOW) — The Green County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after it says a 27-year-old inmate died in the Green County Jail around 11:40 p.m. Monday.
Deputies tried to perform life-saving measures on the man after noticing he was in “medical distress,” according to a press release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
“Monroe Police are investigating the inmate’s death and the inmate’s identity is not being released until next of kin are notified,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “There were no obvious signs of physical trauma to the inmate and an autopsy and toxicology tests are underway at the time of this release.”
Deputies said more information would likely be released Tuesday.
