DEKORRA (WKOW) — A man in Columbia County was taken to the hospital this weekend after authorities say he got trapped under a hay bale.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says the 73-year-old was working on a farm on CTH V in the town of Dekorra on Saturday. Authorities say the man was trying to move a large hay bale with a farm tractor and a front-end loader when the bale fell backwards onto him.
Deputies say the man couldn’t breathe and started turning blue.
When a deputy got to the farm, the officer cut away the twine wrapped around the hay bale and removed the hay that was resting on the tractor operator.
Authorities say the 73-year-old was able to breathe again and was talking with emergency responders.
He was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.
