Former Badger football player Cephus takes stand in sexual assault trial

MADISON (WKOW) – Testimony continues for a fourth day in the trial of former Badger football player Quintez Cephus who is charged in the sexual assault of two women in April of 2018.

Cephus is charged with second degree sexual assault of a person incapable of providing consent and third degree sex assault against Cephus.

Cephus has maintained the sex with the women was consensual. During his opening statement, Cephus’s attorney Steve Meyer told jurors what happened was part of a “hook-culture” of sex without attachment, instead of sex assault.

But Assistant Dane County District Attorney Jessica Miller said Cephus forced sex on the two women, with one of the victims sending an Instagram message to a friend from Cephus’s apartment that stated “rape.”
