Two teens arrested after shots were fired in Stoughton

From Stoughton Police Department:

On Tuesday August 20, 2019 at approximately 12:38am, Stoughton Police

Officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of South Monroe Street

for the report of multiple shots fired from a SUV.

Initial responding officers located the suspect vehicle in the immediate area,

unoccupied. Found a short distance away from the vehicle were two

involved juveniles who were taken into custody without incident. A third

juvenile who was involved was later located and taken into custody without

incident.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a stolen .22 caliber handgun,

along with numerous spent shell casings were found. Also, found were drugs

and drug paraphernalia.

A 16-year-old male of Madison, WI was charged with recklessly

endangering safety and transported to the Dane County Juvenile Reception

Center. A 17-year male of Stoughton, WI was referred the charge of party to

a crime. A 13-year-old female of Stoughton was released at the scene and no

charges pending.

This was an isolated incident, and there is no threat is to the public.

The Stoughton Police Department was assisted on scene by the Dane County

Sheriff’s Office and the McFarland Police Department.

The investigation is continuing.
