MADISON (WKOW) — One person is dead after a head-on crash Sunday morning in the Town of Burke.
According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on County Highway CV in the Town of Burke around 7:26 a.m. on Sunday.
Officials say an initial investigation shows a 2008 Mercedes Benz was traveling southbound on County Highway CV when the 29-year-old male driver attempted to pass another vehicle on County Highway CV, in a no-passing zone.
While passing, the Mercedes crashed head-on into a 2018 Toyota Sienna, driven by an 82-year-old woman and also occupied by her 87-year-old husband.
All three were taken to the hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Roughly three hours later, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office were notified of the passing of the 87-year-old passenger from the Toyota Sienna.
Additional investigation of the crash is ongoing, and citations or charges are unknown at this time, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
