UPDATE (WKOW) — Three people were shot in Fitchburg just before noon on Sunday.
According to the Fitchburg police, officers were responding to a report of shots fired when they found two people with gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail.
Officials said one of the people had what is believed to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
The other person had what officials believed to be a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Both were sent to an area hospital.
A third person later arrived at the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to officials. They said they believe that person was shot in the same incident on High Ridge Trail.
Officials believe the people involved in this incident know each other and that the crime doesn’t appear random.
Fitchburg Police Department and Dane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.

According to Dane County Communications, at 11:57 a.m. the call came in from the 2000 block of High Ridge Trail in Fitchburg.
Fitchburg Police and Fire, along with the Town of Madison Police are currently at the scene.
