UPDATE (WKOW) — Authorities say a motorcyclist is dead after a crash with a farm tractor in Columbia County.
According to Columbia County sheriff’s officials, a tractor pulling a gravity box filled with corn collided with a motorcycle on Highway 60 near Hanneman Road in the town of Westpoint around 4 p.m. Sunday.
The biker died at the crash site and the farmer was not hurt, according to officials.
Crews shut down Highway 60 for several hours after the crash to investigate and clean up the road.
Authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol and are still investigating what led up to the crash.
Officials say it’s important to remember to be careful on the roads during harvest season. Large machinery will need to operate on the roads as farmers work to finish the harvest, so farmers and other drivers need to be on high alert.
