No one was injured Wednesday after an electrical fire broke out in the packaging room of Emmi Roth’s cheese production facility in Monroe.
All Emmi Roth employees on-site at the time were evacuated, according to a news release from the company.
Monroe Fire was called about 2 a.m. and successfully stopped the spread of the fire. The damage was contained to one machine in the packaging area, but the facility did sustain some smoke damage. Emmi Roth employees are working with local officials and a restoration company to clean the area immediately. Measures have also been taken to ensure all cheese inventory and cheesemaking areas are secured and free from damage.
