MADISON (WKOW) — The expansion of I-39/90 between Madison and the Illinois state line is hitting a major milestone this week.
Tuesday, three southbound lanes of the interstate opened between Madison and Edgerton.
The three northbound lanes are expected to open Thursday, Nov. 21.
The speed limit within this section of Interstate will be posted at 70 mph.
Construction will continue on I-39/90 from Edgerton to the state line until crews have to shut down for the winter.
The reduced speed limit of 60 mph is still in effect within these limits.
Interstate work in the Janesville and Beloit areas is scheduled to be completed in fall 2021.
