MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison Police Department helped reunite a baby and her mother Monday morning following a violent encounter and kidnapping.
Hamin Williams, 37, was arrested Monday at about 11:30 a.m. on Havey Road. He faces possible charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety, strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct.
Williams is accused of going to the home where his baby’s mother lives at about 2 a.m. Authorities said the victim was strangled and threatened with a knife and a gun. The suspect left with the baby.
Madison police negotiators got ahold of Williams on the phone and convinced him to bring the child to another family member.
Police tracked the suspect to the Troy Drive area where he was found as a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped at Havey Road.
The Special Victims Unit was used in the effort to return the baby.
