Beloit police say an armed car theft suspect was shot and killed today by police.
The incident began about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Henry Avenue and Riverside Drive when a Rock County Sheriff's Deputy saw a vehicle that was suspected as being stolen and reported hearing shots fired.
After a brief pursuit, the driver got out of the vehicle and took off on foot, Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.
Beloit police joined deputies in looking for the suspect, who was found in the 1800 block of Harrison Avenue.
