Brodhead man arrested for 6th OWI after hit-and-run

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Brodhead man was arrested for his 6th offense OWI after he allegedly hit a car and drove off, according to Janesville police.

Police say officers got a call about a possible intoxicated driver on West Court Street just after 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. They say about the same time another caller said a silver Chevy Traverse did not stop after side-swiping their car on West Court Street at South Arch Street.

The victim was about to get the license plate number of the suspect which register to an address in the 400 block of Harding Street. They found 42-year-old Jeremy Prinkey's car in the driveway of 426 Harding Street.

Officers say Prinkey showed signs of impairment and refused to take standard sobriety tests. They say probable cause led to Prinkey's 6th OWI arrest. While Prinkey was being taken into custody officers say he tried to resist, spat at them and made threats. One officer suffered minor injuries during the arrest, according to police.

Prinkey is being held at the Rock County Jail awaiting his initial appearance. A search warrant was signed by a judge for a legal blood draw with results pending.
