MADISON (WKOW) -- A near-vacant shopping center on the west side of Madison is in the final stages of purchase, with plans to demolish it and start fresh, said real estate developer JT Klein.
Stores at the Westgate Mall have slowly left in recent months with the last shop,Wisconsin Craft Market, announcing its springtime closure Monday.
Jacob T. Klein, president of real estate developer JT Klein Company in Madison, told 27 News the company has made Hy-Vee an offer for the building. He said the Hy-Vee grocery store next door will not be impacted.
Klein said the nine-acre site has many opportunities for development including housing, restaurants and other commercial space.
A neighborhood meeting is planned for the end of January to get input from the community and present a concept. More information on when and where the meeting will take place will be released soon.
