Madison police arrested a man they said has made a habit of pretending to be a UW-Madison student to steal.
Officers tentatively charged 21-year-old Riquel "Ricky" R. Lollis with multiple counts of theft, unauthorized use of personal identifying information, and bail jumping, according to a Madison Police Department incident report released Tuesday.
Police arrested Lollis at the Dane County Jail where he was already being held for theft, ID theft, and bail jumping.
The new tentative charges relate to a Jan. 24 incident where Lollis allegedly stole a UW student's debit card and using it to make several purchases. The student and his roommates allowed Lollis to live with them for a "short period of time," according to police.
Police said the student told them Lollis acted like he was a UW-Madison student and perhaps a Badger Athlete.
"Lollis has a history of passing himself off as a UW-Madison student and athlete. He has been arrested several times for theft, trespassing, and harassment," police said. "Lollis is not a UW-Madison student."
