Five Dane County Board supervisors are sponsoring a resolution to oppose plans to base F35A fighter jets at Madison's Truax Field.
The resolution is expected to receive a vote Thursday evening at the Dane County Board meeting, 7 p.m., room 160B, City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison.
Supervisors Heidi Wegleitner (District 2), Michele Ritt (District 18), Paul Rusk (District 12), Yogesh Chawla (District 6), and Richard Kilmer (District 4) are sponsoring a resolution.
Districts on the north and east side of Madison would suffer the most severe impacts due to the F35 basing, according to a news release from the supervisors.
The final Environmental Impact Statement confirms concerns that basing the F35A squadron at Truax Airfield would have significant noise impacts, and would disproportionately affect low-income people, communities of color, and children, according to the news release.
The US Air Force cannot fund noise mitigation to assist nearby property owners, according to the news release.
