WEST POINT (WKOW) -- One person was killed following a crash on Friday in the township of West Point.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff's office, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra travelled past a flagged "road closed ahead" sign on Schoepp Road.
The road has been closed due to high water since the fall of 2019.
Officials say the Hyundai hit two concrete barriers at the road closure.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
