Poll finds broad support for COVID-19 restrictions

A poll released Wednesday found broad support for measures meant to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Marquette University Law School Poll found a vast majority of Wisconsinites, regardless of political affiliation, agreed with school and business closures announced in mid-March by Gov. Tony Evers.

Nine percent of those surveyed said they lost their job, and one in five said a family member is out of work. Twenty-two percent said their work hours had been reduced.

Evers received high marks across the board for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic response. President Donald Trump's approval varied by party affiliation.

Republicans supported Trump in large numbers while few Democrats approved on his handling. Independents gave the president mixed approval but a majority sided with approval.
