Portage hit by damaging storms

PORTAGE (WKOW) -- The Portage Police Department is asking people to use caution if they need to travel after storms swept through the area Tuesday night.

Some of the worst damage we've seen from the line of storms has been in the city of Portage with trees down and power outages reported.

Authorities said crews have been busy removing tree limbs from streets.

Damage to vehicles from the storm should be reported to your insurance company.

If you need to contact police to file a report you are asked to call during business hours because officers are busy assisting with cleanup.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to and working on clearing a total of 57 incidents of trees blocking the roadway, trees on homes and downed power lines.
