DNR working to get bear to leave Monroe

MONROE (WKOW) -- The Monroe Police Department shared on Facebook today that it has been receiving calls of a bear inside the city limits.

The DNR warden said the bear will likely leave town, and while it does so, police are asking residents to maintain their distance.

The bear was last seen north of town, however if it heads back toward the city, then DNR and police will try to encourage it back out of town, police say.

The DNR Warden was clear that shooting is absolutely not an option unless it is an immediate threat to human life.
