Protesters meet for 7th night in downtown Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- Demonstrators kept a week's worth of momentum going Friday night, meeting to protest at the State Street steps of the State Capitol.

They continued their call for justice for George Floyd, the man who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis. Four former Minneapolis police officers have been arrested and charged in Floyd's death.

Demonstrators also celebrated what would have been the 27th birthday of Breonna Taylor, who was killed by police in Louisville in April.

Friday night's Capitol protest was an extension of anearlier celebrationat James Madison Park. The spirit of that celebration was evident at the later demonstration as people were playing music and dancing.
