COTTAGE GROVE (WKOW) -- Authorities are looking for a man and a woman in the Cottage Grove area after they ran away during a traffic stop overnight, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the traffic stop was initiated around 11:30 p.m. in the town of Pleasant Springs. The two people drove off down CTH M. Police were able to stop them by spiking their tires, but the two suspects ran away on foot.
There's no word on what started the traffic stop, but police believe it was for a routine traffic violation.
A police presence could be seen blocking off traffic early Tuesday morning near North Main Street while police searched for the suspects.
Dane County Emergency Management urged people to lock doors and remain inside. They called the suspects armed and dangerous.
