UPDATE (WKOW) -- Authorities have arrested one of the two suspects, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
As of 7 a.m., authorities said the male suspect has been taken into custody, they're still searching for the woman suspect.

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Authorities have canceled a "shelter in place" following a search for two armed and dangerous suspects overnight, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
Police are still actively investigating after they say a man and woman shot at officers during a traffic stop and ran into a wooded area to escape.

COTTAGE GROVE (WKOW) -- Authorities are looking for a man and a woman in the Cottage Grove area after they shot at police and ran away during a traffic stop overnight, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the traffic stop was initiated around 11:30 p.m. in the town of Pleasant Springs. The two people in a tan Toyota Prius drove north down CTH N and shot at officers as they were speeding. Police were able to stop them by spiking their tires in Cottage Grove, but the two suspects ran away the woods near Progress Drive.
There's no word on what started the traffic stop, but police believe it was for a routine traffic violation.
A police presence could be seen blocking off traffic early Tuesday morning near North Main Street while police searched for the suspects.
Dane County Emergency Management urged people to lock doors and remain inside. They called the suspects armed and dangerous.
Dane County Sheriff's officials provided descriptions of the suspects:
- White man in his late 30s. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. 5 foot 10 inches tall and about 190 pounds. The suspect was wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt at the time of the chase.
- White woman. 30-years-old with brown hair and brown eyes. 5 foot 8 inches tall and about 120 pounds. She was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants and eye glasses at the time of the chase.
