UPDATE (WKOW) -- Firefighters worked for four hours to stop a town of Sun Prairie barn fire from spreading Wednesday night.
The Sun Prairie Fire Department said they were called to a property in the 6000 block of County Road VV at about 7:30 p.m.
When they arrived, a large barn was fully engulfed in flames and the people who lived in a home nearby were outside.
Sun Prairie firefighters went on the defensive to protect the other buildings on and near the property. A farmhouse was impacted by flames, said SPFD.
There were two fuel tanks in the barn and numerous vehicles in the structures on the farm.
Crews from 17 different departments worked until after 10:30 p.m. to contain the fire. Portable water tanks were used in the process.
Firefighters stayed on scene to put out hot-spots overnight.
The fire is under investigation and the family who lives on the property is displaced until it's deemed safe for their return.
