A suspect trying to escape from the police received a nice surprise from a skunk just before he was caught.

According to WMTV, 37-year-old Michael Ring was armed with a knife and deemed "out of control" before police caught him on Monday, August 16. A report from the Madison Police Department says officers responded to a scene where witnesses described Ring as "intoxicated, high on narcotics and out of control."

When officers arrived, Ring reportedly ran. While Ring attempted to hide from officers, police say a skunk caught him by surprise and sprayed him. When police found Ring, he was allegedly using a knife to cut a random vehicle's tires.

After allegedly resisting arrest, officers were able to detain him and take him to a local hospital to be examined. The police report noted that after the hospital examination, Ring was taken to the Dane Co. Jail. Court records show that Ring was booked on counts of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct while armed, resisting arrest, discharging bodily fluids on a public safety worker, and an additional warrant.
