Jonathan Bennett won a million hearts with his portrayal of Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, but since then, he’s only gotten better, releasing a Mean Girls-themed cookbook (probably gonna have to make the “fetch”-uccini alfredo happen tonight), getting engaged to his fiancé Jaymes Vaughan, and even nabbing a spot in the Smithsonian after his movie The Christmas House featured the first gay kiss in Hallmark history. But this might be his biggest challenge yet as he takes over the phone lines for How Men Think and answers call-in questions from listeners to try to explain men to them. Unsurprisingly, though, he flies through them all, offering great, heartfelt advice in a totally engaging and down-to-earth way.

To answer one fan’s question about how to know if a guy is really into you or not, he shares the incredibly sweet story of meeting his fiancé Jaymes. Jonathan was being interviewed by Jaymes for a TV show, and “he said, ‘Let’s take a picture for our friend!’ because we had the one gay friend that everyone who works in entertainment has in common and that’s Lance Bass,” he jokes. But as soon as they touched, “you could just feel the electricity….instantly in that moment I knew.” His publicist begged him to wait at least three days before calling Jaymes, but instead he called him right away and asked if he could come back and kiss him. He said yes, “and I said, ‘Good, I’m already on my way.’” The moral of the story? “When it happens and you get that butterfly feeling, you can’t not communicate with that person…if you’re not a priority it means he’s not into you,” he says simply. “And you’re too good for him anyway!”

When Tara calls in saying that she has a hard time with Covid dating, because she really prefers in-person time to texting, he tells her: “They say ‘expect the unexpected.’ I would say ‘accept the unexpected.’ Accept that all this is weird and throw it out there in the conversation….then it’s no longer weird.” Zoom dates are anything but normal; why not acknowledge it? We all know it doesn’t compare to the real thing, so try to get some face time in when you can do it safely. Besides, “honey, he can look real good on Zoom with the right lighting and the proper filters,” he jokes. “When I’m on Zoom it looks like I'm sitting on the surface of the sun!” Hear all his charming advice on this episode of How Men Think.
