VILLAGE OF BLUE MOUNDS, Wis. (WKOW) — A 54-year-old woman is dead and a 31-year-old woman is in custody after a disturbance in the village of Blue Mounds on Monday.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office was called at 11:44 a.m. to 10889 Smokey Mountain Trail.
When deputies arrived, they found the 54-year-old woman with serious injuries that later led to her death, according to Sheriff Kalvin Barrett.
The 31-year-old left the area in a vehicle and was apprehended by law enforcement at another location after a short foot chase, Barrett said.
The 31-year-old is considered a person of interest at this time. The relationship between the two women is not yet known.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the cause of death at a later time.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office and village of Blue Mounds Police Department continue to investigate.
