Stoughton police investigate shooting, victim taken to hospital

STOUGHTON, Wis. (WKOW) — Stoughton police officers blocked off a portion of E Main Street Monday afternoon for a shooting investigation.

Police were called to the area at 1:21 p.m. for a man who had been shot, according to a press release. The victim was taken to a hospital and was being treated for his injuries Monday evening.

The road was closed to traffic between S Division Street and S Forrest Street for about 2 hours.

Investigators believe the shooting happened at another location. Police do not believe the shooting was random and say there is no immediate threat to the public.

The Stoughton Police Department is being assisted by detectives with the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
