MADISON (WKOW) -- A search and rescue operation is underway on Lake Monona in Madison after a sailboat carrying four people capsized in the middle of the lake Friday night.
Rescue crews were called out around 8 p.m.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office says one person drifted to shore on the overturned sailboat, while the three others remained with a kayak.
Two of the three people who stayed with the kayak were rescued. The fourth person is still missing.
The boater who remains missing was not wearing a life jacket, according to a press release from the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
27 News caught up with a member of the search team at the boat launch at Olin Park Saturday afternoon. He said crews are dealing with cold, choppy water. He said they are looking for a green camouflage kayak and asked anyone who sees a kayak like this to report it.
