Sun Prairie West HS staffers under investigation for alleged misconduct

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WKOW) — The Sun Prairie Police Department is looking into allegations of inappropriate communications and relationships between staff and students at Sun Prairie West High School, according to school and law enforcement officials.

The Sun Prairie Police Department says once allegations were brought to them, they immediately launched an investigation and alerted the school administration. Police Chief Kevin Warych says the Sun Prairie School District is cooperating fully.

The Sun Prairie School District sent an email to parents and caregivers Wednesday alerting them about the criminal investigation. All staff members allegedly involved have been placed on administrative leave and are barred from district facilities, according to the email sent to parents.

Police say no arrests have been made.

"Our top priority is the safety and well-being of your children," said Police Chief Kevin Warych in a message to parents and guardians.

The police department says due to the active and sensitive nature of this case, not much information can be released publicly just yet.

"We appreciate your patience until such time that the police indicate we can share more information," said Dr. Brad Saron, superintendent of Sun Prairie Schools, in the email to parents.

The letter said families currently involved in the situation have been contacted by police.

If anyone has information relevant to the investigation, they are asked to contact the Sun Prairie Police Department at (608) 837-7336.

Both police and the school district stressed student safety being the priority.

Support services are available for students needing assistance.
