Middleton police investigate shots fired incident early Sunday morning

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Middleton Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident early Sunday morning in the area of South Avenue and Maple Street in Middleton.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the scene at 1:26 a.m. after receiving multiple calls from residents reporting the sound of gunfire.

Responding officers located several expended shell casings in the intersection and observed damage to the window of a nearby home.

One witness reported seeing a vehicle idling in the area shortly before the gunshots. The vehicle was then seen driving southwest on Maple Street immediately after the shooting.
