SAUK CITY, Wis (WKOW) -- People who live on Birchwood Drive in Sauk City are beginning the clean-up process after a possible tornado ripped through their neighborhood Wednesday.
The street that sits just off of County Highway Y experienced severe, tornado-like weather, causing those that live there to have to clear debris from their yard.
Uprooted trees and branches filled the yards of the majority of the houses.
Patti Ballweg is calling herself lucky that her house was safe from the severe weather.
"I wasn't home, but I got a lot of interesting texts and calls while I was away, and they said that we had a tornado come down our road. And we are very lucky," Ballweg said.
"Nothing impaled the house, roofs, no leakage, as far as we can tell. Just got to pick up a few things, find a few things, like our little shed," she continued.
Tractors and tow trucks quickly came to the rescue to help in the clean-up process, making sure roads and driveways were clear.
Several neighbors 27 News spoke with say no one got hurt since everyone was in their basements and took shelter when the storm ripped through their street.
Levi Lathrop calls this the worst situation he's seen in his neighborhood.
"There was trees down everywhere. There's trees down over our driveway, and there's a little bit on the house," Lathrop said.
Neighbors quickly took to the streets to check on each other after the storm hit.
They are staying optimistic that they will be able to rebuild.
"Yes, they'll definitely come together," Ballweg said. "We've got great neighbors in the area, a lot of relatives, lots of friends."
People from all across southern Wisconsin are coming to Birchwood Drive to help with the clean-up process and make sure everyone is safe and okay.
